Caring for Our Heroes

War Veterans and Trauma Healing

Support Through Trauma

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia dates back to 2014 when the Crimean Peninsula was annexed by Russia. The situation escalated in 2022 when Russian-backed separatists in the eastern regions of Ukraine launched a full-scale offensive, leading to a wave of deadly clashes and destruction.

The Ukrainian people and their armed forces have been fighting courageously against this aggression, with thousands of soldiers and civilians losing their lives. It is in this challenging context that our organization has stepped forward to provide post-war support to Ukrainian war veterans and their families.

Through our rehabilitation programs, we provide physical and emotional healing to those who bear the scars of war. Participants engage in various activities that aid in their recovery and help to create a sense of camaraderie and solidarity with fellow veterans. Our education programs equip them with the tools required to transition back into civilian life as well as retrain them for new vocations.

We also offer life-transforming programs such as family retreats that provide a much-needed break for both veterans and their family members. These retreats bolster familial bonds and promote healing and rejuvenation in a serene and peaceful environment. Our services have helped numerous families cope with the after-effects of war by providing them with the necessary resources and support.

In short, our organization recognizes the sacrifices made by Ukrainian war veterans and their families and aims to support them in every possible way. By facilitating their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing through our programs and retreats, we hope to contribute towards their overall healing and recovery from the trauma of war.

"This was my first trip to Ukraine! Wonderful time traveling to Europe, learning new cultures, traditions, serving together with people from other parts of the world and being able to share faith with campers and staff at Camp Maximum. Time I will never forget! The mission ended up better than I could have envisioned! A very memorable, professional, and spiritual journey for me!"

"I traveled to Ukraine to help develop programing and processes for the new Christian Camp site the local team was just starting to build. I lived and served in Zolotonosha for six months! A rewarding experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. This was not easy, but I would definitely do it again. Love Ukraine and my dear friends in Zolo!"

"I iterally could not be happier that I chose to travel on a mission with the Shepherd's Foundation! Through serving and sharing my faith in Ukraine I discovered deeper relationships and a sense of God's presence in my life. This is something you only come to understand when you serve abroad."
