A worry for our youth

Stories like the one from Odessa has now become common among the guests that visit Camp Maximum. Most everyone is hurt and carries a personal traumatic experience. This is why we continue to train our team in aspects of understanding and dealing with trauma and adapt our programs to match the needs of our society.

As we get ready for the summer season, there is a worrisome trend. The rate of suicides among the youth has multiplied.

Anxiety, insomnia, grief and depression, nervousness, loneliness, withdrawal, apathy, excessive sensitivity, loss of hope, vulnerability, safety concerns for parents and loved ones, lack of perspective, and an end to the war – our young generation is growing up with so many challenges. For two years in a row, in all our camp programs, we work with children and help them find hope and faith. This requires a completely different approach to camp programming and team training!

Please hold our team in your prayers as we get ready to host our Spring break camps in the end of March and get ready for the summer season.

We are training more than 100 volunteers from accross Ukraine to work with children and youth throughout the summer.

Despite the difficulty of challanges ahead, we know what we have to do and have faith and hope. As our Camp Pastor Misha recently shared:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
